Aura Ink features an e-paper display, which is built on only six ink colors—white, black, red, yellow, green, and blue. Using Aura’s proprietary dithering algorithm, these colors expand into the illusion of millions of tones. The result is photos with a softly lit, vintage look that feels more like a printed picture than a digital screen.
Yes, but unlike LCD frames, Aura Ink is not backlit. Instead, Ink uses a built-in front light which automatically adjusts to the room’s ambient lighting throughout the day and turns off in the dark. It’s so discreet, you’ll barely notice it’s on. For added control, users can also schedule the light to turn on and off at set times.
When set to change images once per day, the Ink frame can last up to three months on a full charge. Battery life will vary based on the frequency of image updates, app and button usage, room lighting, whether or not the frame is in a high-traffic area, and other environmental factors. Aura will notify you in the app and via email when your frame’s battery is running low.
You can add unlimited photos with no subscriptions or hidden fees. All images are stored securely on Aura’s cloud servers. Ink does not support video or Live Photo playback.
Yes. Aura frames receive new content via the cloud, so a WiFi connection is necessary for your frame to display photos.
Designed for calmer living, Ink automatically updates to a new photo overnight, or you can set the frame to update more frequently in the app. The photo transition takes approximately 30 seconds and includes flashing on the screen as each color pigment shifts to create the updated photo. You can also use the on-frame buttons to cycle through your photos in real time.
Place Ink on a shelf or incorporate it into a gallery wall in a well-lit space. We recommend an area with adequate ventilation, where the temperature remains between 65°F and 86°F. Do not install your frame near sources of humidity (e.g. showers or humidifiers), and avoid placing it in areas at risk for splashes or liquid spills.
